Very Rare PRS SE Custom 24 Exotic, Upgraded, Paul Reed Smith

Description: This is a rare and very special SE, as close as you’re going to get to a USA model without the hefty price tag. My main guitar is a USA Standard 22; I originally had set out to buy another USA for a backup, but when I saw this rare SE, I fell in love. I bought it and immediately set out to upgrade everything on it to USA level specs and parts including the same pickups as my Standard 22. The foundation is a 2021 SE Custom 24 Exotic. Set maple neck, 24 frets, bird inlays, rosewood fretboard, mahogany back, maple top, blade pickup selector with volume, tone and coil tap. Truth be told, I’m not exactly sure what the top veneer wood is as it doesn’t quite look like spalted maple or burled ash; I don’t know what other options there were at the time. All I do know, is that I’ve honestly never seen another SE Custom 24 with a top like this, and the black grain detail matches so well with the black body, neck and headstock binding. The photos don't do it justice; it looks incredible. It originally came with chrome hardware, vintage amber knobs and SE black/creme pickups. The following upgrades and customizations were made to bring its tone/sound up to snuff with my USA model and emphasize the menacing black on natural wood appearance: - Pickups swapped for uncovered black PRS Dragon II’s (my personal favorite pickups, period)- Pickup rings changed from creme to black- Chrome non-locking PRS tuners swapped to Gotoh low-profile black locking- Truss rod cover swapped for PRS plain black aluminum- Bridge swapped to Brio black + Graph Tech saddles- Knobs changed to PRS clear/black- Strap buttons changed to Black Schaller (fits Schaller Strap Locks)- Pickup selector tip changed from creme to black- All other screws, etc. changed from chrome to black This thing is one of a kind. It looks mean, sounds and plays mint; absolutely on par with my USA Standard 22. Currently set up for extended range with a blocked bridge and tuned/intonated to Drop A#. Can easily be changed to whatever tuning config you want and unblocking the bridge takes 30 seconds. With the Dragon II’s and the coil tap, there is literally no ground this won’t cover from spanky strat tones to blistering high gain with incredible string to string note definition. Has strictly been a studio instrument; never gigged, never dropped, never bumped. Is like new, doesn’t even have belt buckle rash. Check out those pics… 👀 The guitar and soft case alone before any of the mods were over $1200. Just the cost of the Dragon II’s puts you over my asking price. It’s like new, includes all the mods (and I’ll also include all the original parts if you want them), and also includes the deluxe SE soft case which is exceptionally nice, well padded and surprisingly feature-laden.
