Description: estate item, from a 90 year tool collector and close friend. I've tried to get an accurate date and I'm not succeeding. The use of The L. S. Starrett Co suggests that it is after 1896 (that's when they put "The" in front of Mr Starrett's name, but the fonts and the way it is laid out looks much older than instances of this pamphlet dated in the 30s. And the paper is very brittle and does not feel like modern paper. The logo on the back shows the Starrett tool logo with a resistance type caliper, a micrometer and a square, and the words "Trade mark Registered US Pat Office". Below that is a logo with a banner that says "Rice leaders of the world" and on the top says "be guided by this foundation" that foundation was based on a pamplet by Elwood E Rice published in 1914. Later there were some subtle changes in the name, so I think this was pre WWII. This is my best guess, if others know better, please let me know and I'll update the listing.I normally ship within 24 hours of your order, but the post office does not always initiate tracking when I put the packages in the drop off box.
