Description: Attention all Marines and Marine Corps patch enthusiasts! This is a FINE example of a Vietnam-style reproduction patch for the Second Battalion, Ninth Marines. These can't be found just anywhere! Not, of course, allowed on the uniform, but worn on all manner of off-duty civilian caps and clothing as novelty items. 2d Bn, 9th Marines has a long, distinguished list of battle honors from both WWII and Vietnam. For Operation Desert Storm they remained on Okinawa with 3rd Marine Division. Known as HELL IN A HELMET This is a faithful reproduction of the Vietnam-war era unit patch. Recent Decades: Ninth Marine Regiment was deactivated in 1994. But with post-9/11 increases in military strength, 2/9 was reactivated July 2007 at Camp Lejeune. Marines from 2/9 deployed September 2008 for Operation Iraqi Freedom! They served in Al Anbar Province in the city of Ramadi, and returned home April 2009. This is a BRAND NEW an UNUSED patch. It is NOT a war relic but a recent manufacture item! Note that this is a smaller sized patch, ideal for a ball cap. Embroidered on white twill with merrowed edge and plastic heat-sealed backing.
