Description: Condition - Used / Sharpened Length -390mm Blade Length - 270mm Weight - 516g Engraving - Yoshihiro Steel - carbon steel (It rusts!) Ferrule / Handle Type - wood Purpose - versatile I came across this heavy Western style deba. It weighs 516 g and it is the heaviest yo-deba I got ever before. The blade is thick. It's ideal to use for meat block or fish. The blade is made of carbon steel, which is prone to rust. However, with proper care, the surface will develop a foggy, silver oxidation coating over time. To achieve this, wash and completely dry the knife almost every day for about four weeks. However, I have also oiled the surface, wiped it throughly, and applied a food-grade silicone coating. This should provide additional protection, making it less likely to rust. Please note that the blade may develop orange rust more easily during the first two weeks if you won't wash and dry the knife. Once the oxidation coating forms, the blade will become more resistant to rust. But you need to keep it dry when you don't use it.
