Description: On July 8, 1985 Wisconsin became the twenty eighth state in the USAir System. Service to Wisconsin consisted of two daily DC-9 nonstop round trip flights between Pittsburgh and Milwaukee, with continuing same-plane service to Green Bay.The cachets applied on the covers to and from Green Bay contained the word “nonstop” although all of the inaugural flights stopped at Milwaukee. The cachet depicted Boeing 737 aircraft although the flights used DC-9s.This cover was carried on the inaugural USAir flight from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Airport Mail Facility to Milwaukee, Wisconsin (where it was backstamped) and is listed in The American Air Mail Catalogue as AL-D75Wfb.The Pittsburgh Airport Mail Facility Operations Manager autographed the cover. On February 14, 2013, US Airways Group and AMR Corporation announced that the two companies would merge to form the largest airline in the world. The combined airline carries the American Airlines name.
