Use when temperature is above 50°F (10ºC) and humidity is below 65% to ensure proper drying. Do not apply to surfaces that exceed 200ºF (93ºC). Avoid spraying in very windy, dusty conditions. Cover surrounding area to protect from spray mist.Preparation: Remove loose paint and rust with a wire brush or sandpaper. Lightly sand glossy surfaces. For best results, dry or wet sand with 400-grit sandpaper to feather adjacent paint surface and prepare metal. Clean area to be painted with Rust-Oleum Mineral Spirits to remove all oil, grease, wax and dirt. Dry thoroughly. Warning! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you release lead dust. Lead is toxic. Rust-Oleum Universal Bonding Primer is recommended to provide superior adhesion and hiding and is strongly recommended for heavily rusted or pitted surfaces.Painting: Shake can vigorously for one minute after mixing ball begins to rattle. If the mixing ball fails to rattle do not strike. Contact Rust-Oleum. Shake often during use. Hold can upright 12?16" from surface and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same distance from the surface and in motion while spraying. Apply 2 or more light coats a few minutes apart. Apply multiple light coats vs. applying one heavy coat.Dry & Recoat Times: Dries to touch in 30 minutes and to handle in 1?2 hours at 70ºF (21ºC)?50% relative humidity. Surface can be recoated within 2 hours or after 48 hours. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. If recoating after 48 hours, repeat preparation steps.Finishing: Apply a Rust-Oleum automotive clearcoat for a durable finish. May be buffed with wax or polish after one week.Clean-Up: When finished spraying, clear spray valve by turning can upside down and pushing spray button for 5 seconds. Clean up wet or dry paint with Xylol. Mineral Spirits can also be used to remove wet paint. Throw away empty can in trash pickup. Do not burn or place in home trash compactor.Clogging: If valve clogs, twist and pull off spray tip and rinse it in a solvent such as Mineral Spirits.
