The history of the Bible... in plain language Proponents of new Bible versions specialize in creating confusion, including arguments about the "oldest" manuscripts, "best" manuscripts, or "majority of" manuscripts. You will learn the story behind the Bible, taking you from the earliest copies, through the history of translations. An Understandable History of the Bible also covers the following: A simple description of over 5,000 pieces of Scripture that provide our "witnesses" of the original writings. Scripture comparisons History of the development of English An entire chapter on King James The efforts of men to translate these into the languages of their people, and how Satan tried to stop it. How the Jesuits started their plan to destroy the Protestants' faith in their Scriptures, and replace them with a "bible"; that contained pro-Catholic readings. Wescott and Hort's "greatest feat in textual criticism… replacing the Universal Text of the Authorized Version with the Local Text of Egypt and the Roman Catholic manuscripts…" Westcott and Hort, two men who lifted themselves up as "experts" on the Scriptures, were really "unbelievers" Yet, modern translations are based on their work. Wescott's perverted views on Romanism, statues, purgatory, Mariolatry, the Second Coming of Christ, heaven, socialism, and more. You will be shocked! Information on the "Oxford Movement" How apostasy enters our churches A critique on modern scholarship, including James White and his feeble charges against the Bible. After reading this book, you will see clearly why the King James Bible is the only Bible you can trust! Extremely well documented, with over 250 footnoted references, this book will benefit anyone desiring to better understand the Bible version controversy. The first edition of An Understandable History of the Bible has been used by Christians around the world. It has been a help to new Christians who want to learn more about where their Bible came from. It has been translated into several languages and has been found useful as a Bible college textbook in the United States and abroad. Many pastors used it for Sunday School classes. The second edition enhances the former edition's usefulness with a wealth of added material. Now the third edition adds still more information resulting in two new chapters plus new material inserted into already existing chapters. This is the fourth edition of An Understandable History of the Bible due to the fact that when the third edition was first published the English Standard Version wasn't even on the radar. Therefore, I have added information that proves that the ESV is pretty much just a New International Version with a different cover. Most of the corruption of the NIV are carefully preserved in its twin brother, the ESV. Since it is the version being pushed as the "best" at the present, it merited a special examination. The Modern English Version, on the other hand, caught some Bible believers off guard. Unlike most modern translations, it is not translated from the tainted manuscripts of the Alexandrian Text but rather claims to faithfully follow the Received Text of the King James Bible leading some to think, "It must be all right!" Actually, no. Sadly, even though it uses the Textus Receptus it subjects it to the same corrupt mentality of Alexandria that produced the Alexandrian Text in the first place. Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself. This edition now has about 50 pages of new information that documents the corruption to both of these translations. · Preface · Introduction · Introduction to the Second Edition · Introduction to the Third Edition · Chapter 1 - Time Trip · Chapter 2 - Where Do We Go From Here · Chapter 3 - The Ground Rules · Chapter 4 - The 100 Year War · Chapter 5 - The Localities · Chapter 6 - The Witnesses · Chapter 7 - The Enemy · Chapter 8 - Westcott and Hort · Chapter 9 - The Authorized Version · Chapter 10 - The "King" of the King James Bible · Chapter 11 - The Greek Text, Today · Chapter 12 - The Great Manuscript Heist · Chapter 13 - Considerations, Conclusions & Vindication · Appendix A, NASV Translators · Appendix B, Major Early Translations · Appendix C, King James Translating Companies · Appendix D, NIV Omissions · Appendix E, The Great Manuscript Heist, Charts & Graphs · Bibliography · Indices ABOUT AUTHOR SHAPE \* MERGEFORMAT Dr. Samuel C.
