Stone is 15/16" thick - much thicker than most of today's mounted bench stones. Grain and coloration in this stone is similar to the grain I have seen in mounted stones marked Soft Arkansas. I do not know exactly where this stone is from but it looks and feels similar to the Soft Arkansas stones I have had over the years.
