Description: Two Japanese Red Cloisonne Enamel Vases Cherry Blossoms Flowers Vintage Japan Description and Item Information Up for sale is this lot of two beautiful, vintage ginbari cloisonne enamel vases. Please excuse the glare in the photos. The vases are red, with cherry blossoms, branches, and bamboo in multicolored enamel. The designs are similar, but not exactly the same, so these are not a matched pair. They are variations on a theme. Beneath the translucent red enamel, each has different designs. One has a fish motif and the other has butterflies. Each vase is about 7 3/8 inches tall. They each have tarnished metal rims. Unpacked, the two vases weigh 2 pounds 14.7 ounces together. These would be a fine addition to a collection of vintage Asian decorative arts. Identification These vintage cloisonne vases were made in Japan. The exact ages are not known. The vase with the butterflies is marked beneath with three small, wire circles; the maker has not been identified. The vase with the fish is not marked. These are from a northern California estate. Condition The vases look very good overall, with no chips or cracks to the enamel. They have light wear overall. I have not cleaned them, and they are a bit dusty. The interiors have some wear and residue from use. The metal rims have tarnishing and some finish wear, but they are not dented.
