Description: Maker: This pair of beautiful cabinet or dessert plates was produced by the Z.S. & Co. porcelain factory in Germany. Zeh, Scherzer & Co. was founded in Rehau, Bavaria, in 1880, and produced lovely and highly coveted porcelain until it closed in 1992. Age: The green Z.S. & Co. "Mignon" mark on both plates was in use between 1880 and 1918 - widely recognized as the company's golden era, when spectacular works in porcelain were produced and sold to collectors around the world. Design: These wonderful hand painted plates are part of a six-plate series called the Birds of Prey Cabinet Collector Set, each featuring a different game bird against a backdrop of natural scenery. Pink cartouches of delicate pink roses encircle the plates. These 2 plates feature a duck in its natural habitat. Size: The plates are 7 1/2 inches wide and together weigh just over 1 pound. Condition: They have no nicks, cracks, scratches, stains, crazing or repairs. There is light wear to the edges - it's visible in the photos. One has a dark embedded dot near the center that was created in the manufacturing process and a tiny nick on the rim on the reverse; the other has several spots of discoloration on the back. These are shown in the photos. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
