Description: Twenty-Four Hours A Day by Richmond Walker Three Early Hazelden Printingscirca 1955 - 1962 Based on information compiled about Hazelden's early printings, which began in 1954 or 1955, the earliest copies listed the address at No. Dale St., a facility that burned down in 1958. Hazelden was then located at 680 Stewart Ave. from 1958 to 1962. This was followed by the PO Box 11, Center City, Minn. 55012 address. Included in this listing are three of the earliest printings, likely 3, 4 and 5. Book 1 - 341 no. Dale St., St. Paul 3, Minnesota NOTE: missing the compiled by a member statement on p. 372 Book 2 - 680 Stewart Ave., St. Paul, Minnesota with $1.50 price on Title the page and page 372 Book 3 - 680 Stewart Ave., St. Paul, Minnesota with no price on either the titles page or page 372 See the photos included to see the differences and what you will receive. A later sixth printing of 680 Stewart Ave., St. Paul, Minnesota listing the zip code 55102, which was adopted for commercial addresses by the US Post Office in January 1963 is NOT included. The books listing Stewart Ave as the address credit the author anonymously in the rear with the statement: Compiled by a member of the Group at Daytona Beach, Fla. The No. Dale St book does not have this statement. The author of this book was Richmond Walker, who sobered up in May 1942 in Boston. After relocating to Florida, he produced the first version of the book in 1948, distributed from his own home. Walker created the book from prayer and meditation cards he carried with him. The book is a daily reader that is still widely used by members of Alcoholics Anonymous. Walker self published the book from 1948 until 1954. Before Walker turned publishing over to Hazelden, he offered to it Alcoholics Anonymous for publishing. The 4th General Service Conference declined this offer in 1954. At that time, Alcoholics Anonymous desired to be its own publisher and own all of its own literature. This was in line with it newly-adopted tradition of non-affiliation. To this day, Alcoholics Anonymous creates and publishes it's own material. In addition to this book, Walker also wrote For Drunks Only: One Man's Reaction to Alcoholics Anonymous in 1945 and The 7 Points of Alcoholics Anonymous in 1956. Richmond Walker passed away on March 25, 1965.
