Description: Presented for your bidding consideration is a sublime Tiffany & Co. hammered sterling silver pomegranate pitcher designed by Edward C. Moore circa 1879. According to Charles T. Grosjean, the superintendent of Tiffany's silver at the time, the pomegranate inspiration came to Moore when he encountered a cabinet at Herter Brothers on April 26, 1879. The pitcher is painstakingly hammered with applied pomegranates, leaves, two butterflies, a cicada, and a beetle on the handle. With gilt touches to the pomegranate seeds and one butterfly. In excellent condition save for the age-commensurate wear. Never monogrammed. Height: 8.25" (21 cm.) Weight: 1150 g. Track Page Views With Auctiva's Counter
