Thinner by Richard Bachman aka Stephen King (author of Carrie, The Shining, The Stand, The Dead Zone, etc.) Hardcover Trade Edition Fourth Printing NY: New American Library, 1984. $12.95 cover price with the portrait of "Richard Bachman" on the back jacket flap. (It was in fact a photo of a friend of King's literary agent.) Number-line down to "4"without further edition information on the bottom of the copyright page. Edition Information: This book was the fifth appearance of a Richard Bachman title, and the first in hardcover. The first four Bachman titles were paperback originals, some of which now fetch $1000+. The first four novels were in fact novels by Stephen King but rejected by publishes, particularly Doubleday. In actuality, "Carrie" was King's fifth written book but his first published. King wanted to see if some of his work could be sold without his name on it as he had become a writing superstar by 1980. So Signet agreed to publish his previously unpublished books under the name "Richard Bachman". "Thinner" was the first hardcover book of a Bachman title and the first to be written by King with the intention of putting it under the Bachman name. Fine in Near Fine- Dust Jacket, a nice copy, the book itself appears fine with minimal or no reading wear. The jacket does have some condition issues, mainly some rubbing and edge-wear at the top spine and a few other places, Still, NO tears and NO chips to the jacket that I can see which overall is very bright and clean.
