Although beautifully integrated into the classic Thermador oven design, the knobs on these highly sought after appliances had one design flaw. The mechanism used to attach the knob to the shaft was weak and prone to breakage. You know that, that’s why you’re here. Unfortunately, until now, the only solution was to replace the entire knob. Since these are no longer available from the manufacturer, the only option was an expensive used/old stock original knob (with the same design flaw) or a replica. This core solves both the design flaw and keeps the original knob exterior by providing a whole new interior to the knob with superior connection to the shaft! Regardless of the condition of the original knob tabs (or if they exist at all anymore), this part will allow you to use your original knob again! DESIGNDesigned to fit snuggly into and fill the entire interior of the knob, the core effectively makes the knob solid. The core engages the shaft using its own material and whatever remains of the original tabs and tabs base including the four ‘stabilizers’ at the bottom of the base. It also uses the perimeter surface of the core to ‘grab’ the entire knob around its interior. MATERIALSThe core is manufactured using polyethylene terephthalate glycol, known as PETG or PET-G, which is a thermoplastic polyester that provides durability and strength to mechanically stressed parts (like knobs that ‘click’). EASY TO INSTALLNo tool required. Simply follow these steps: 1 - Remove any loose remains of the original tabs and the metal spring clip. If the tabs are broke or almost coming off, go ahead and break them off and remove them completely. If there’s any part of the tab that’s still solidly attached, go ahead and leave it. 2 - Install the new core on your original knob. It’s pretty straight forward, you just need to line up the flat spot on the core hole with the flat spot on your original knob where ot attached to the shaft. There’s also an alignment notch on the core that should be at the top of the original knob (aligned to the pointer on the front of the knob). See photos for reference. 3 - Push the core in until its seats completely. They’ll be a small rim that extends beyond the original knob. 4 - Install your original knob with the new core back where it belongs, proudly on your vintage Thermador oven! If the knob is touching the face of the oven just pull it out a little bit, it'll still work great.
