The REALIST #64 February 1966 Counterculture HELL'S ANGELS GUINDON Saul Heller!!

Description: I have a very large collection of books spanning many topics. A massive gathering of Philip K Dick titles and editions, as well as fine press, signed limited editions, modern firsts, radical movement and conceptual art items. I encourage you to browse my store and categories for a wide range of unique, quality offerings. Condition: This issue is in solid GOOD++ condition. Staples holding, although a hint of rusting. NO hard creases. SHORT tear to the upper right corner first 2 pages, otherwise NO tearing, no chipping. Except for the toning to the paper, I would grade this as VERY GOOD. Internally, no markings. Pages are toned, but not brittle. Preserved in an acid-free archival bag. IMO, gift or collection quality. (SOME) of the contents: Cover illustration is by Dick Guindon. Paul Krassner article titled Hell's Angels -vs- Berkeley Vietniks. Michael Myerson gives his Report from Hanoi installment. Full-page cartoon spread by Mort Gerberg titled The Junkie Battalion. Full-page cartoon spread of Ed Fisher's Page. Saul Heller installment co-existing, which leads with this sentence: The C.I.A., which has a penchant for piloting our ship of state incognito, has been caught once more with its disguises down, its morals loose and its ability to lie its way out of trouble in worse shape than ever. The Realist was an underground paper founded by Paul Krassner, and first published in 1958. The Realist was an early satirical publisher of conspiracy theories, and a key contributor to the American underground and countercultural press. It saw print for over 42 years, coming to an end in 2001. Steeped in satire, and wrapped up in the First Amendment right to free speech, this Underground countercultural paper was quite a tool in speaking Truth to Power and breaking through the boundaries in which we enclosed ourselves. This paper was also an avenue for underground art of the time. Krassner was not only the founder of this paper, he was also friend to the likes of Lenny Bruce and Abbie Hoffman, as well as being a founding member of the Yippies in the Sixties. An important free speech advocate and anti-war/establishment radical, Krassner broke many social taboos with this paper, fighting in the trenches for expression of the masses, standing in opposition to the military industrial complex and power structure that works to squelch the Voice of the public at large. Although these papers are not for the easily offended, IMO they are key examples of a vibrant passion for Freedom of the Press. I will happily answer any further questions. Making offers: I certainly can appreciate wanting a better deal, and I've made offers myself on my own purchases. To be up front, if and when you make an offer, I will automatically reject crazy low "give it away" offers. Best not to waste our time. With a more reasonable offer, I will review current pricing for other comparable items out there and either accept, counter or decline submitted offer. If in that review, I find my pricing is already LOW and outdated, I may then increase the price to bring more in line with other offerings. I spend a lot of time sourcing the best offerings, preparing the listings with images and clear descriptions, and price fairly in MOST cases. I remain grateful to all who consider my offerings, and I look forward to serving your needs respectfully and with success.
