Description: Clyde W. Riley Advertising System, Chicago (1928). Vol. 34/No. 48. 16 Pages. 5.25 x 7.75 Inches. Program Condition: Near Fine. As the program proudly states, "The Playgoer" was the official publication of all Chicago leading theaters playing stage attractions. Each issue featured the practical information of a typical theater program, with the addition of editorial columns, book reviews, jokes, and short fiction pieces. Advertisements take up about half of each volume, which is good in this case because they are absolutely gorgeous. This issue is on the John McGowan play "Excess Baggage," staged by Edward Clark Lilley. Sarring James Spottswood & Pauline McLean, it was performed at the Garrick Theater in Chicago starting on July 29, 1928. The program is in near fine condition. Clean bright pages bereft of inscription, firm binding, vibrant covers, etc.
