Inscribed "To Vincent All The Best Fred Lucky" in top margin. -Description: This is the original artwork for the 8-16-1976 daily of the newspaper comic strip "The Dumplings" by Fred Lucky (best known for his work in animation and storyboarding including for Disney). This short-run strip (9/29/1975 to 6/20/1977) features Joey and Liz Dumpling, and presented, in an "adorably romantic" and gently humorous fashion, the lives, loves and laughs of an overweight couple (think a 1970s version of "Mike and Molly"). This daily features Joey and Liz kissing, and Liz getting a bit miffed when Joey admits that he does not imagine himself kissing a movie star while kissing her. A cute gag, nicely rendered by Fred Lucky, and an excellent example of a strip for which originals are very rarely seen. The Dumplings was collected into two paperback books published by Tempo in the mid-1970s and was adapted into a short lived (10 episodes) 1975 television series by Norman Lear on NBC starring James Coco and Geraldine Brooks. Condition: -The art is in very good overall condition. Minor to moderate age/handling wear. Creasing to paper corners/edges (2 to bottom margin; 1 into top of first panel; not otherwise affecting the art). Pinholes to corners. Pencil notes to reverse.
