Sylvester Britton Charcoal Sketch Signed by African-American/Chicago Artist

Description: Set of two charcoal sketches made by beloved artist Sylvester Britton (1926-2009). The sketches can be bought separately for $1,200 each or together as a set for $2,300.* Sylvester Britton was born in Chicago and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, Mexico's School of Painting and Sculpture, and L'Académie de la Grande Chaumière. His work has been exhibited at the Oak Park Library, Atlanta Clark University, the Smart Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago; as well as internationally in Paris and Stockholm. He was instrumental in the revival of Chicago's South Side Community Art Center and was a gallery director. He was awarded the Eisendrath Prize and is listed in Davenport's Black Artist Index, Cedric Dover Negro Art, and Afro-American Artists. Mr. Britton's oil artwork is now selling for up to $20,000. Provenance: Private Collection, New York City. Set was made by the artist inside the Art Institute of Chicago on a winter day in 1995.
