Description: This is a gorgeous freewheel in a nice ratio for many folks - but there is one special usage note: Pro-Compe bodies have a nice reputation BUT you should check the outer ring once in awhile as it can have a tendancy to loosen. So just check it once in awhile and you should be fine. Click Here for a link discussing this on the Sheldon Brown site. Suntour Ultra 6 14-22 freewheel NOS in bo. Silver cogs, it's a Pro-Compe level body. Photos are illustrative of the eample you will receive. Freewheel is factory fresh, bo may be so-so. These are older production so figure it will be BSC/English thread. This is a fairly good ratio for those living in flat areas. Ultra 6 freewheels are intended to offer 6 cogs in the space of 5, but in reality it's best to have either about 122mm spacing for dropout clearance, or to run 120mm with an etra washer on drive side and use of a thinner locknut on non-drive side (Campy even made ale sets like this from the factory as it was a common set up. As with all vintage freewheels, it's suggested that you drip in some oil as the freewheel may have dried a bit over the years of storage. You also should use a new chain when you install a new freewheel. You have lots of choices for chains - any chain made for narrow 6, narrow 7, or 8sp should work. In fact a 9sp chain might (not sure) work as well. This item is perfect for that old Cinelli, Masi, Hetchines, Reynolds 531 or Columbus SL bicycle that you have. This item will be great for that vintage lightweight bicycle that you may be displaying at Classic Bicycles Auburn in June 2024 in Auburn Indiana at the famous Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum The fine print: It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine if an item purchased from us is safe for use. Many items, especially vintage items, are best for display-only due to metal fatigue, other degradation from time, and vintage designs that were not subject to modern testing. If you purchase an item from us and you make a determination that the item is not safe for use, contact us for a replacement or refund. But don't use this reason is you simply changed your mind about your need for the item. You take care of us, and we take care of you! This item is being sold by Boulder Bicycle. We "failed retirement" and once again are in the vintage bicycle parts business. The staff at Boulder Bicycle has been selling vintage Campagnolo Nuovo Record and Super Record parts since the early 1990's! Note that while we failed retirement, we do plan to keep the business somewhat low key. For now, we only ship orders on Wednesday of each week. We will adjust the epected shipping times accordingly. So order on the weekend and shipping is fast, order Wednesday night or later, and the order won't ship until the following Wednesday. We are tempted to change our business name to "Wednesday Vintage Bicycle Parts" but for now we'll stick with Boulder Bicycle. Do not ask us to report a lower-than-actual value for items shipped internationally. It is the responsibility of the buyer to pay all customs/vat/import fees. And please don't get mad at us if the postal service is slow - we take pride on getting your order packaged carefully and shipped on Wednesday. If the postal service is slow or has other issues, we'll help with tracking and moral support, but we aren't the postmaster. ------- A note about pricing - if we are interested in accepting offers for an item, we will enable price or "best offer" in the listing. Otherwise, do not message us to ask if we will accept a lower price. We review our pricing regularly and make changes based on product availability and market conditions. You will notice many of our prices are much lower than other sellers for similar items. We try to keep things fun and informative and fair for everyone. Unfortunately, we are getting older and grumpier as time goes on - sorry about that. So if you ask us if we will accept a lower price on an item that does not have "best offer" enabled, we may block you as a bidder. Now we have to go yell at a kid to get off our lawn......
