Ra's funeral was held at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama on June 5th, before a small gathering of well wishers and fans. The Arkestra stood by during the proceedings and would performed a few makeshift versions of Ra/Arkestra classics (like “We Travel The Spaceways”), among others. The ever-lasting Marshall Allen is second from the right, alongside various members of the Arkestra through the years. The pained look on the band’s collective faces tells the sad story here.
