Description: Here we have a beautiful mid-19th-century, aesthetic-movement mid-sized ironstone plate from C. Wooliscroft (Staffordshire, England) in the Excelsior pattern. Mulberry polychrome transferware with a still-life central motif and floral, foliate and scrolls motifs on the border. We have lots of fabulous transferware in our store, to which we add new inventory daily, and we're always happy to combine shipping at actual cost. If the eBay checkout fails to properly combine your orders, we will issue a refund for the difference between what you paid to ship items separately and the actual cost of the combined shipping, on the day that we ship your package. (We don't find out the actual cost of combined shipping until we purchase the shipping label.) Approximate measurements: the diameter varies slightly on this octagon-shaped plate, depending on whether you measure from point-to-point (8.5") or from straight edge to straight edge (8.25") as shown in the photo Condition: Our photographs reveal the condition best -- please enlarge and zoom in on them, and examine them carefully. Very fresh and clean piece, in good antique condition, with no chips or cracks, and no silver/gray utensil marks. Very fine, "tea-stained" crazing throughout. Surprisingly few scratches, all of which are completely colorless, the kind that can be seen when the piece is held up at just the right angle to a direct source of light. Beautiful, heavy-duty (weighing-in at a full pound!) piece with a long life ahead of it. For those of you new to transferware -- please note that the scattered crooked lines along the border of this plate are not, not, not cracks, but simply marks left behind in the transfer from where the transfer had to be cut and the edges of each piece butted up against each other, a process that is far more difficult on a rounded octangular shaped plate and, thus, resulting in far more than the typical amount seen. These marks can't be felt, and are only a part of the transfer or decal, not a part of the pottery/clay/actual dish itself. We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we'll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us. The Fine Print: We expect payment within 1 day of purchase. If you're waiting for other auctions to end so that you can combine shipping, shoot us a message to let us know.If you're unable to pay within terms, please reach out with your Plan B. Things happen. Especially these days. So just shoot us a message. We don't accept buyer-remorse returns but we will grant you the use of our description and photos so that you can re-ebay the item yourself.Although we don't accept buyer-remorse returns, reach out if you're unhappy with your purchase! If we messed up -- everybody does -- give us a chance to fix it. We promise it was unintentional, and we'll do what we can to make it right.
