Description: Staffordshire Childs Pearlware 3pc Soup Tureen Thomas Dimmock and Co. Staffordshire England c 1840 This is a scarce miniature transferware soup tureen with lid and tray, c1840, originally part of a complete miniature children's dinner service. The round serving set stands just 5 inches tall and measures 6 inches across with twin handles and a flower bud finial on top. Extremely well potted, to the standards usually only seen in full-size Staffordshire table wares, transfer printed in rich cobalt blue (not flow blue) with an overall star or snowflake sheet print and a contrasting scroll border trim, finished with pearlware glaze. The piece is unmarked. Often found marked with the embossed initials of the maker, Thomas Dimmock, a well known pottery maker in the Staffordshire region of England from 1828-1859. The pattern name is "DIMITY". A very popular pattern, documented in Doris Lechler's English Toy China as pattern #87. The set is in excellent overall condition with a tiny old chip on the foot of the base and no other chips, cracks, or repairs. Typical manufacturing imperfections original to the making, adding to the charm and authenticity. Impeccably made. Sold as is, as shown.
