Description: St Margaret ClitherowHoly Medal on 24" Chain This 7/8" nickel silver medal, from Italy, has the image of St Margaret Clitherow on the front and on the back "St Margaret Clitherow Pray for Us". Comes on a 24" stainless steel chain, which is continuous, with no clasp. You can slip it on and off over your head - fits over most size heads. Medal comes gift-boxed and with a St Margaret Clitherow prayer card, plus a gift bag and tissue paper, plus a few other prayer cards of our choice, although if you mention another saint when you purchase the medal we will include that saint's card if we have it. St Margaret Clitherow was an English wife and mother of two who was raised Anglican but converted to Roman Catholic. This was during a time of great persecution of the Church under the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, and Margaret supported the Church by allowing priests to say Mass in her home and providing hiding places when needed. Finally she was caught and arrested; she was sentenced to death by pressing - an awful method of execution in which a sharp stone was placed under her back, then a large plank or door was placed on top of her and heavy weights were placed on the plank. She died within 15 minutes; she was only 30 years old. The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medals and pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" program on a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper.
