Description: SPRY 1909 ADAMS & WESTLAKE TALL GLOBE RAILROAD LANTERN SUPER RARE RY MARKING. Tall globe railroad lantern manufactured by Adams & Westlake, 1909 Adlake version embossed on the lid, "SPRy". The frame is in very good condition, lightly cleaned long ago. No major dents, holes, or damage and has the original bail, lid latch, globe retainer assembly, and tall globe font, brass Adlake hallmarked burner included. Comes with a clear, unmarked tall globe. The marking is a bit of a mystery but should be an extremely elusive variant for the SP with the "Ry" marking. After speaking to several western collectors...the Silver Peak in Nevada fits the time frame but was Railroad, the Sugar Pine fits the time frame but did not have marked hardware because of the ownership by the Standard Lumber Company, and the couple other options for the road don't fit the time frame. The lantern was purchased by a longtime employee of the Southern Pacific up near the Sacramento area many years ago and fittingly ties in with the road, specifically for a potential Southern Pacific Street RAILWAY Lines division that was very elusive and not around very long. There are a couple variations for SPRy hat badges in existence that are tied to the Southern Pacific. Have never seen another Ry version in collecting! Will ship via USPS Priority Mail with insurance, and will be packed well for transit. We will combine shipping on auctions when possible. PICK-UP is always available.
