The overall construction consists of silver and hot baked enamel. The inscription on the banner reads: “Лучшему ударнику Пролетарского паровозоремонтного завода НКПС”. This translates to "Best Udarnik (Shock Worker) of the Proletarsky Locomotive Repair Plant NKPS". The silver chain is held together by a bent silver wire which possibly is original to the Star suspension as pictured in an unidentified vintage Russian book on Soviet badges (pictured above). However, the loop seen in Sysolyatin’s book is not present. The reverse inscription reads: “M. P. Kaltsert Nov. 7, 1932 No. 7” Please note the presence of enamel scratches, and a couple small locations where it has chipped through. This badge is exceptionally rare, and a great addition to any Soviet collection! Ultraviolet image included to show lack of modern repairs to the enamel. *** Reach out to me with any and all questions you have prior to purchase.
