Description: This unmarked porcelain "Yuhuchunping"(pear shaped vase)was made in the 1400's during the Ming (1368-1644) dynasty. The faceted shape, as well as the blue painted decoration, is a holdover from the previous Yuan (Mongol) dynasty. The narrow opening to the constricted neck (see photo's) is unusual. It is possible that this small vessel was made to hold cosmetics or a fragrance of some sort. This piece has survived in good condition with typical wear and patination on the unglazed foot ring.
