Corita (Sister Mary) had a fondness for calligraphy, so it was a natural step for her to weave words into her designs, as she began to do in 1954. Although this print may appear conservative to our twenty-first century sensibilities, it was rejected as too avant-garde by the Christian magazine that commissioned it. This screenprint is in near perfect condition, and like all others of this screen-print, there is a crease that runs down the middle and near it. Please review pictures. None of which takes away from its beauty. It is truly a masterpiece for being 70 years old. It is framed in a light oak surrounded by a linen mat and presents beautifully.
