About the Book:I wondered why these books had sold for so much in the past. I was only to read one section of the book to satisfy my curiosity and two hours later... this autobiography of a seemingly unknown man (as far as the internet goes). James Anthon Ferrell was a character! Please read the following two pages in my photos for samples of what you will find. In these pages, you will hear about Ferrell being a one-time owner of the Old Austin Ranch in Saratoga, Utah around 1948. It was a short lived partnership to grow sugar beets which was destined for trouble when they found out 1/5 owner were polygamists. Ferrell served as elders quorum president and went out searching for a lost ward member who went pheasant hunting and never returned. They found the man dead from suicide. The event deeply triggered some strong feelings amongst the men.I noticed in his photo section a nice shot of Ferrell with Apostle Melvin J Ballard.Another section described how he almost died from a hernia operation.Oh yea! And they're used to be wild horses in Lehi Utah area that apparently anyone could round up and keep?! From the Foreword: The subject of this work has lived in and traveled from: Canada to Utah, Utah to Nebraska, Nebraska to Chicago, and Chicago back to Utah. Thence we made our way to Seattle, Seattle to Wenatchee, Wenatchee to Ellensburg (all in Washington), and Ellensburg back to Utah. From Utah we moved to Hardin, Montana, from Hardin back to Ellensburg, Ellensburg to Yakima, Yakima to Cle Elum (still in Washington), and then back to Utah again. Then we entered missionary service in North Carolina and served in Lincolnton, King's Mountain, Shelby, and Hickory. We returned home through Tennessee, Nauvoo, Independence, Powell (Wyoming), and back to Lehi, Utah. Myra and I have lived most of our married days in the mission fields of the church. We have served under eleven mission presidents including our North Carolina Mission President. It is marvelous to this writer how my companion, Myra, has endured so many untold sacrifices without complaint. She has faced sheep camps, cow camps, hail, snow, blizzards, blistering heat, and more, and endured it all. She and I have found satisfation and a great measure of happiness. Tears have been’ our companions--starting with the loss of one of our parents (her father and my mother) at an early age in our lives and then the loss of our own first-born. We have seen miracles as we struggled to fill the measure of our creation. At the present time we are ordained temple workers. Our posterity are the light of our lives. We are deeply proud of each one of them and note with pride that they are keeping the Ferrell name as one of honor and integrity. It has been a marvelous blessing for me to have shared a life with, and at the side of, Almira Oliver Ferrell. May her posterity hold her name in reverence. Copyright © 2018-2023 TDM Inc.
