It's pencil signed by the artist in the lower right corner in high case letters, as well as in Japanese calligraphy. It's also titled in pencil 'Mirage' in both English and Japanese symbols and is the last print from a very small, limited edition of 'XL/XL' (15/15.) This very intriguing, enigmatic piece of Japanese two-dimensional graphic Modernism, has very sensitive, layered hieroglyphic patterning and poetic, symbolic visual language. It's a virtual underwater painting, where objects appear to defy solidity and float in a crystal clear pool of color washes, whose intensity varies and fluctuates. The most identifiable images appear to be some kind of fantastic, abstract urban architectural forms or man-made towers, with semi-transparent filigree patterned detail. Very poetic. Simply beautiful. Very scarce. CONDITION:Very Good to Excellent overall vintage condition. This print is unframed, as it was found in a large portfolio covered in a sheet of wax paper in a doctor's estate in north-central Massachusetts.
