Camber and caster angles are usually adjusted right on the strut itself. A strut is also a pivot point for the vehicles steering system and contains a coil spring. Because of this an alignment is always needed when replacing a strut.A Shock Absorber is a part designed to keep your tires on the road. The better quality shock you buy, the more it will keep your vehicle down and riding smoothly. A good shock will reduce wear and tear on all parts of the vehicle. A shock will usually have eyelets on each end, an eyelet and a stem, sometimes even stem to stem or with a post. Features100% BRAND NEW and tested to meet or exceed OEM specificationsPremium ISO/TS 16949 quality - guaranteed highest quality availableEach complete assembly is built to meet or exceed exact OEM specifications.High corrosion resistance and long service life.Steel rod is mirco-polished with double chrome plate.Engineered for superior durability, backed by industry leading warranty. Each shock and strut is individually tested before leaving the factory. How Long Do Shocks&Structs Last?Shocks and struts can wear out, especially if you do a lot of off-roading or drive on uneven or rough roads. It is recommended that you have your shocks and struts inspected after 50,000 miles or according to your vehicle manufacturers maintenance schedule. 5 Signs of Worn or Faulty Shocks&StructsThe front end of your car dips down when braking or the rear end dips down when accelerating.Your tires wear or show abnormally flat areas (cupping)Excessive vehicle bounceSteering response is poor or you hear a noise when turning How to Replace Shocks and Struts?ASSESS YOUR STRUTS.In order to fully assess your struts, you will need to visually inspect them and take your car for a test drive to check for any of the following signs of old struts: Fluid leaking down the side of the strutExtreme bounce or sway on your front endDifficulty keeping your vehicle in its own lane on curves and bumpy roadsShallow craters on tires, caused by excessive bouncingDamage or dents to the strut boot PICK UP REPLACEMENT PARTSStrut assemblies include the strut, spring, spring seat insulator, strut boot, jounce bumper, strut mount, and bearing plate. If you need to completely replace your strut, a strut assembly can save you a lot of time and money. If you only need to replaceone specific part, on the other hand, you can pick up individual parts as necessary. MEASURE THE CAMBER ANGLELift your vehicle up on jack stands and begin disassembling the struts components one side at a time. Soak the strut flange nuts and bolts with rust penetrant. While they soak, attach an angle gauge to the top of the rotor and write down the angle. REMOVE THE END LINKHold the stabilizer bar end link with a sturdy wrench. Loosen the nut with a socket and racket and push the end link out of the strut hole. Then disconnect the wheel speed sensor wing harness and set it aside. REMOVE THE NUTS & BOLTSOnce the rust penetrant has soaked through, put some elbow grease in and remove the strut bolts. Don’t be surprised if this takes some serious strength.SEPARATE THE KNUCKLE FROM THE STRUTUsing a pry bar, pull the knuckle towards you until it pops out of the strut flange.REMOVE THE MOUNT NUTSPut some plywood or soft rags under the strut flange to prevent damaging the CV boot. Use a ratcheting wrench to loosen the strut mount nuts and loosen all of them and remove three out of four of them.REMOVE THE OLD STRUTReach into your wheel well and hold onto the strut as you remove the final nut. Slowly lower the strut and place it lightly on the plywood or rags underneath.INSTALL THE NEW STRUTReverse above steps to install your new strut, being careful not to drop it or damage it while you are attaching the mount nuts. Once it is installed, reattach the angle gauge and reinsert the knuckle to the same angle it sat at initially. Tighten the nuts and recheck the camber angle.ALIGN YOUR WHEELSWe recommend taking your car in for a quick wheel alignment after you install new struts to make sure your camber angle is right on the money.
