Issued from 1965-1987, these softbound books are comprehensive histories of American civilian and military aircraft. Aviation progress from pre-WWI to the expanding jet age of post WWII is chronicled in this great series. Contained in these 18 volumes are hundreds of b/w photos(a few color images), great informative articles and stories covering many aircraft, builders, designers, pilots and aviation heroes. Both well-known classic aircraft to little known forgotten planes are featured. Articles on aviation pioneers and pilots are found throughout. Each volume includes a number of scale drawings by Paul Matt of some of the most interesting and innovative aircraft of their day. Attached are a few examples of the b/w and color pictures, the interesting stories and Matt's great scale drawings.
