Description: 1. Gold (gilt-bronze) medal for Bravery 1877 34mm Obvers: In the central part of the surface of the medal there is a portrait of Prince Milan Obrenovic. The Prince wears a ceremonial general's uniform with a large ribbon and star of the French Legion of Honor. The portrait is surrounded by a ring with the inscription in Cyrillic: MILAN M. OBRENOVIC IV. PRINCE OF SERBIA (MILAN M. OBRENOVIC IV. KNJAZ SRPSKI) Under the portrait of the prince the name of the author, an outstanding engraver and medalist Anton Scharff, is indicated. (Anton Scharff 1845-1903.) Reverse: On the back, in a wreath of laurel and oak, there is a simple inscription, again in Cyrillic: FOR BRAVERY (ZA CHRABROST) The medal was presented personally by Prince Obrenovic, and in exceptional cases - by the Minister of War. Each medal had its own award order. (302 awards) The medal is one of the rarest awards of Serbia during the liberation war of 1876-1877.
