It can grow to around 2-4 feet tall and a foot wide on a square stem. The leaves are triangular and toothed around the margins. The leaves are blue-green in pairs that are opposite. The flowers are brownish-red in a round shape. They are slightly scented with two upper lobes to attract the bees. It also attracts tiny wasps and is a host plant for the common buckeye.
