Description: This is a rare 1-sided acetate record that plays at 33 RPM. Dated March 29, 1952. The pianist featured on this acetate is SAM MINEO, a prominent 1940s and 1950's-era pianist, who was once a member of "The Hollywood Radio City Orchestra", and also Buffalo NY's "Shea's Buffalo City Orchestra and Stage Band" - he even once co-wrote a song for Frank Sinatra, "Just Close Your Eyes". This acetate once belonged to SAM. This acetate features the song "Pizza Polka Excerpt". This acetate is an excerpt from an episode of "Saturday At The Shamrock", a radio show that ran in Houston, TX between 1949 and 1952. "The Shamrock" was a prominent hotel in Houston in the 40s and 50s, and this radio show was broadcast from the hotel. The recording starts with the audience clapping, then the female announcer and singer of the song (unidentified), convinces a male voice heard to sing along with her, even though he's not technically a singer. She says his name, "Sid". Based on the Google research I did for this auction, "Sid" might be Sid Richardson, an oilman/investor from that time, who I believe owned or co-owned The Shamrock. I am not 100% sure this is that particular Sid, but it would make sense based on the research and info I could find. Regardless, the song is introduced, and "Sid", along with the female singer, sing a novelty song together about PIZZA! The disc runs approx 4 or 5 minutes total, including the intro and song itself. Disc has a bit of light age wear but plays beautifully! No cracks. Disc is housed in a plain white sleeve. The disc label reads "KXYZ" and "ABC in Houston" on the top edge. I'm assuming KXYZ is the station that ran the radio show, and ABC In Houston was the local radio affiliate. Label is clean but has a red sticker affixed to the center, as seen in photo 1.
