Description: Vintage, Almost Antique, Roseville Pottery Montacello Monticello Handled Vase Blue Green Mold #563-8. Made in USA. From my personal collection where it has always been displayed behind glass. I discovered the repair while conducting the pre-listing inspection. There are marks at the interior bottom indicating the vase was used to hold flowers. Condition is Vintage Used: no chips or cracks. See repair in photos 17, 18 & 19. The repair is widest right at the rim measuring approximately 3/4 inch. ------------------------------------------------------------ From "Roseville In All Its Splendor" by Jack and Nancy Bomm: Monticello - Circa 1931 "A Native American appearance line which came in a limited number of shapes, in fact, only 15 shapes are shown on catalog pages. Of course, several others have been found. These shapes are round and rough with handles or braces on every shape. Most of the artwork and shapes are crude in appearance. A wide impressed band going around the neck is enhanced by a white cross that seems to flow off the band and into a black circle. These crosses are evenly spaced around the band. Their coloring is either terra cotta or green with a satin matt glaze. The background colors range from light green and terra cotta to pale blue. The center sections seem to be blended to a soft white or terra cotta to enhance the white flowing crosses.
