Description: This screen print of a loon was done by well known Northwest coast artist Richard Hunt. It has been nicely matted, framed and covered with glass. The print size is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". With the frame it measures 11 1/2" x 14 1/2". It has been pencil signed on the right. And, titled on the left with Richard's tribe, Kwa-Giulth and Loon. This print is in great condition.Richard Hunt is part of a family tradition of carving works devoted to the revival of traditional Northwest Coast artwork. His grandfather, Mungo Martin, was one of the last living carvers of Kwa-giulth tribe of northern Vancouver Island. Today Hunt is one of the country's most distinguished totem carvers with poles in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia. The Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale commissioned him to carve a sea monster mask and monumental carving of a killer whale and a thunderbird are installed at Vancouver International Airport.
