Description: Reuven Rubin, (1893-1974). "Visages D'Israel", (Faces Of Israel), Paris, Chez Daniel Jacomet. Printed in 1960. FURTHER PRICE REDUCTION. A complete set of twelve signed offset lithographs in colours, hors-texte, title page, text in French, justification du tirage signed lower right in crayon. There are two pages of essays by Haim Gamzou and Florent Fels. Copy number 233 of a limited edition of 250 sets. High quality Jacomet prints on Arches paper. Dimensions: 64cms x 49cms. Loose in the original portfolio, as issued. Condition: Good, commensurate with its six decade age. Six of the prints were at one time framed and have tonal changes around the margins, to a depth of 0.6cms, due to the contact with the mount card, (please refer to images 4, 5 and 6). This darker tone is only to a depth of 0.6cms of the paper margin and would be covered by new frames. These six examples have darker tones on the reverse, (not noticable from the front), and varying degrees of 'ruckling' - waves in the paper - towards the margins, due to the prevention of natural expansion and contraction by framing. A professional hand might reduce both the tonal change and waves to the margins/edges if deemed necessary. There are 'foxing' marks, (brown dots), to the title page, hors-texte and justification pages to varying degrees, but are notably very few on the twelve prints themselves. Again, these could be largely removed by a professional hand. Colours remain vibrant throughout and there are no signs of fading. Print 12, (see full photo image of single horse on hind legs - photo no.6, right hand print), has some scratching around the two hind legs and a straight shallow scratch line through the tail, (please refer to the last photograph showing the relevant details from the print). Overall, the prints are sharp and crisp and in very good order. The portfolio/presentation box itself is in good solid condition. The top left and lower left corners have some minor damage, (see photo no.8 showing bottom left corner), andthe box has some warping/bowing throughout, commensurate with age, but otherwise good. We have priced the set at a very modest level, each print averaging 66. We could have divided up the set and sold each print for much more, (prices online for single prints appear to range from 350 to 700), but never considered this option. It's possible that of the 250 full portfolios printed in 1960, a large percentage of them have been split and prints sold off individually. Complete sets are probably very thin on the ground. Shipping: Worldwide. International buyers most welcome, (please note the 120 shipping fee, quoted to me by the GPO).
