Description: Red BerylWah Wah Mountains, Beaver Co., Utah, USA 1.9ct 11 x 7 x 5mm This is a beautiful crystal of red beryl on matrix. The crystal is a deep raspberry red color. The crystal measures 8x5x4mm. This is a rare and highly sought after mineral. Red Beryl is a very rare form of Beryl (in the same family as Emerald and Aquamarine). It gets its color from Manganese impurities. Red Beryl was discovered in the Thomas Range in Utah and originally Called Bixbite after Maynard Bixby, however, that name was retracted to avoid confusion with Bixbyite (a manganese oxide also named after Maynard Bixby). It is only found in 3 localities: the Thomas Range in Utah, the Wah Wah Mountains in Utah, and Paramount Canyon in New Mexico.
