This postcard shows a nice image of a very early amusement park in New York State. There is a rustic looking building in view. Out front is a man dressed in a costume with hat and jacket. He holds a suitcase that reads Old Mill. A small crowd of spectators and children are in view. The card front is printed and reads The Old Mill Altro Park. Al-Tro Island Park, also known as Pleasure Island, Dreamland, Midway Beach Park, and Lagoon Island Park, was an amusement park in Menands, New York that operated from the late 19th to early 20th century. The park was located on upper Patroon Island and was owned by the Albany-Troy Steamboat Company. The name Al-Tro is a combination of the cities of Albany and Troy, which the park served. Condition is good to very good as shown. The card back is divided and is postmarked Albany 1908. Guaranteed vintage and original. The watermark is not on the postcard you are buying here.
