Description: RARE WWII Japanese Steel TRAINING Bayonet & Scabbard, BRIGHT BLADE Nice Original Marine Vet Battlefield PickUp Souvenir From the South Pacific Fighting DESCRIPTION: Scarce complete, original Japanese steel bayonet & Scabbard. Scans show it all. It was originally used as a training bayonet and was made with a smooth blade edge. Also, no arsenal marking or serial #. However, late in the war anything was being issued to troops in the field, which is where the American marine picked it up on the battlefield. Blade is very bright on both sides. Hard wood grips are in nice condition. Release button works well. All is just as the Marine brought it home from the Pacific fighting so long ago. Has the original steel scabbard in excellent condition, as shown. Excellent condition overall. ALWAYS NICE TO FIND ONE OF THESE, ESPECIALLY SUCH A SCARCE ONE. A nice example of an unusual bayonet, with unusual background and use, that was still being worn and used in combat in island fighting. Bayonet is standard 20" long overall, blade is 15 1/2" long. Bayonets were a popular veteran battlefield pickup souvenir item from battlefield fighting in the Pacific Theatre and they are excellent collectibles today.
