This Original WW2 COLD WEATHER Flight HelmetWas Made For The U.S. NavyBetween 1943-1944,And Features A Leather Shell With Chamois Lining,Leather Chin Strap,Original Tags And Size Stamp,And Laces For Tightening To Fit! The Leather Is Wrinkled From Storage,But Remains Very Supple!It Has Some Minor Surface WearFrom Age And Use,And The Chamois Lining Has A Small Damaged AreaIn The Bottom Corner Of The Right Cheek,As Well As A Couple Small Holes.The Thin Chamois Lining Insert In The Left EarHas Come Detached From The Rest Of The Ear PaddingOn It's Lower Half. The Other Lining Insert And Both Ear Pads Are In Excellent ConditionWith Some Minor Wear From Use. The Helmet Is Tagged "Large" And"Contract Number NXSA-36914 SLOTE & KLEIN". It Is Stamped "USN" On The Outside Of The Left Rear Panel Above The Straps, And "L" On The Inside Of The Forehead. There Is Minor Green Buildup On The Snaps And Buckles,As Is Normal For Helmets Of This Age. Helmets Like This Were Used ExtensivelyDuring Combat Operations Throughout Both Theaters Of World War 2, With This Particular Example BeingUsed By The United States Navy.
