This listing is for an unbranded metal (brass) tenor saxophone mouthpiece. I wasn't sure what this was at first, but a helpful fellow ebayer informed me that it is an early Bari (brand) piece. These were made for Bari by Wolfe Tayne. They were machined, and then hand finished either by Wolfe himself, or under his supervision. Apparently, these pieces have a cult following among whom they are very highly regarded. This piece would have been made in the late 1980's, when Bari was a new brand attempting to mass produce high end mouthpieces, hence the collaboration with Tayne. The only marking on this piece is "120" on the side, which is presumed to indicate a tip opening .120" (although my own measurement puts it closer to .122"). This piece has a slightly raised, black circular bite plate. It is machine faced, with horizontal mill markings. It has a high step baffle, with a wide "V" shaped drop into the chamber. The chamber is round, and just slightly smaller than the exit bore. This mouthpiece is in excellent used condition. The tip, table, and rails are perfectly smooth. There are no dents or dings. The bite plate is in perfect condition. This mouthpiece has been cleaned/sanitized. This piece plays great with a fairly light reed. It is very powerful and bright sounding.
