Description: Hello. I bought this metal detector from an estate sale recently. It comes with its original box with much paperwork included.I opened it up and examined the insides. Its all clean and looking great inside but there is a small amount of battery terminal corrosion that probably should be cleaned up. I put in a 9 volt battery and it started working .I read the instructions and got it tuned up properly. I tested it out with the big coil and it seems to be working as it should. I even located and underground pipe I had buried many years ago. This model sold for about $130 in 1971. This one uses the sound only for locating objects and does not use the meter which only indicates battery level only. The more deluxe versions used also the meter movement so you could kill the sound and be more stealthy. Looks like it didnt get used that much. So this version was more like the entry level detectors in its lineup but was still a quality unit as Garrett was about the best available at the time. I am throwing in a set of headphones that are very nice looking and are also of a vintage age. I recommend the best 9 volt battery you can find as The one I used (removed) was on the weak side but still worked the unit. Comes with about 40 pages of Garrett information about the hobby with full instructions. Thanks. DS loc:#3sw
