Description: We are pleased to present an antique Chinese armorial porcelain plate, with Thomas Jefferson "J" crest and design. The "J" crest was the Jefferson family china that was used as the presidential china between 1801 and 1809. This hand-painted plate measures 9.5" diameter. This plate was a privately commissioned piece by descendants of the Jefferson family, to accompany the original pieces that had remained in the family. The back is marked 八寶乙酉秊製, which translates as "8 Treasures, Made in the Year of Yǐyǒu" ("wood rooster"). The wood rooster comes every 60 years, and we believe these plates were privately commissioned in 1945. The plate is of excellent quality and clearly no expense was spared to match the original design. This plate is estate-fresh, purchased at a local auction featuring contents from the estate of a direct descendant of Thomas Jefferson (Coolidge family), who lived at the Brick House at Coolidge Point in Manchester by the Sea, Massachusetts. This listing also includes an original glossy, full-color auction house catalog from the sale. We have a limited number of these plates and bowls, and you will not find another when they are gone. It is in excellent condition, some light gilt wear, and some small manufacturing imperfections. Please see pics. SEE PICTURE!
