An exceptionally well-preserved example of a famous Cultural Revolution propaganda poster exporting Maoist anti-imperialism abroad. Following the Sino-Soviet split, Beijing marketed itself as the leader of the non-aligned world in opposition to what it regarded as the imperial and ideological hegemonies of the United States and the Soviet Union. This widely recognisable image, executed by the artist Zhou Ruizhuang (b. 1930), was first published as a poster in 1964 and frequently reprinted throughout the ten years of the Cultural Revolution, including in the present trilingual form.
