Description: From the admittedly small Oceania section of my collection (OK, it may only be two pieces but they are two extremely fantastic ones!) I am offering this extremely rare, Brutalist-style vessel by the renowned New Zealand ceramicist, Peter Lange. This vessel is a good example of Lange’s innovative approach to ceramics, reflecting his deep connection to the rugged landscapes of New Zealand and his distinctive artistic vision. The vase is glazed in a rich palette of orange, rust, yellow, and green, creating a vibrant, earthy blend that beautifully complements its rough, tactile surface. The vessel is adorned with sgraffito markings that evoke imagery of stars, barbed wire, and the untamed wilderness, reminiscent of New Zealand’s unique environment.
