RARE Nikon F2A 25th Anniversary SLR camera in matching box EXC F2 DP-11

Description: Nikon F2A Photomic w/ DP-11 Finder 25th Anniversary Edition Up for bids is this used Nikon F2A Photomic camera body commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Nikon SLRs in the USA. The Nikon F2 is an all-metal, mechanically (springs, gears, levers) controlled, manual focus SLR with manual exposure control. It is completely operable without batteries. In a word - this camera is the ultimate in reliablity. The F2 was the replacement for Nikon F. It did not introduce many new features (a faster 1/2000th second maximum shutter speed, a swing open back for easier film loading, a larger reflex mirror to ensure no vignetting, and a shutter release relocated to the front edge of the camera for better ergonomics are the most obvious) or any new technologies. Instead, the F2 represented possibly the ultimate expression of the 35 mm SLR as a precision optical instrument. Constructed of 1700 exquisitely engineered parts, the Nikon F2 is widely regarded as one of the finest, if not the finest, mechanical camera ever made. This unit featured the advanced DP-11 finder a far advance from its predecessors of the F2 and the F2S as it allowed auto indexing of the aperture. The 25th Anniversary version, modified by the US importer features a silver box with matching body and serial numbers, a silver 25th Anniversary name plate on the camera body, and a special engraving on the baseplate, this one being '25-1444' . It is believed that approximately 4000 models were produced. As you can see from the photos, this camera is in used, but excellent condition. The finder reacts to light well and gives similar readings to my personal F2AS. It winds smoothly, and the shutter speeds all seem to be OK, but we, like most eBay retailers, do not have a shutter tester to ensure it is 100% factory spec. The self timer works well too. Cosmetically, there is some paint loss from rubbing on the wind side. There typical wear on the baseplate. The shutter curtains are light tight. As grading cosmetics is subjective, please study the photos which show all sides. Typical to the 25th Anniversary models, the nameplate was affixed to the body and this one was mounted on a slight angle. Most Anniversary models lost their nameplate completely. In all, while not perfect, it remains a great collectable with matching box. Manual and product brochure are in excellent condition. Box has shelf wear and light soiling This camera is decades old.
