Description: RARE Miida 7x,35 Extra Wide w/Case: Cleaned, Lubed & Enhanced! Easily one of the more unique 7x,35 wide angles we've come across in seven years of collecting and using/enjoying vintage binos! Since we have the Gold Standard for the size, power, and width - an FPO Rangemaster - as well as myriad other classic 7x,35s, we've decided to sacrifice this one. Too, we managed to find its slightly larger stablemate, a 10x,40 version 7.5* model we would use far more often. This is a rare gem, for sure, and so well made. Just get a gander at the beautifully made top prism! One collector friend said it reminded him of Kern binos, another highly regarded name. And this Miida is about 1/3 the size of the far larger Rangemaster! Made by JB-274, it is the first one made by that firm we have handled. As usual they came with stiff focus controls and haze causing film on prisms and interior lens surfaces. While out for cleaning, we blackened sides of BK-7 prisms. Otherwise whomever once owned them treated them well! The fold down rubber eye cups have "perished," as the English are wont to say, so we peeled off the badly cracked, rather shallow rims. Leaving behind the, still rubber covered, screw off metal bases. Use them with glasses on, or screw them off for the widest possible views without glasses; as we use all our Vin Bins. Lenses are near pristine and both amber and UV coated. An early form of multi-coating that at least one astronomer geek on CN says is better and brighter. He sees more stars compared to single coated optics. We love the combo because the amber prevents those typical yellow views that UV with blue (magnesium fluoride) coatings yield. A Swift 1968 Saratoga 8x,40 we have uses the same coatings with equally marvelous results. The shape of the frame places the prism humps under your thumbs allowing your fingers to lie flat across the top. Feels more like a camera! And the shallow eye piece design allows one to rest the rear center hinge cap on the bridge of the nose for more stable views. At least it does for my typical Aryan schnoz. Vinyl on the chassis conditioned with an automotive grade cleaner/conditioner. Leather case in remarkably good shape and also conditioned. Not many Sellers of old optics do as much. How many others offer already serviced binos? Carry strap on optic shortened to eliminate weak spots, conditioned and mounted using brite metal barbell keepers. A bit age stiffened, it is far stronger than any leather strap and eminently usable. Satisfaction or request a return and cheerful refund within three days of receipt, please.
