Description: Unlike a few others of these sets that you may see around being sold that are all used and the sellers picked them up second hand at a house/garage sale. This chess set was purchased by me at Fortunoff for close to $100 many, many years ago(About 20 years at this point.) So that tells you how much it cost all those years ago when you factor in what a $100 back then would cost in today's dollars due to inflation! It has NEVER been used and the pieces have NEVER been taken out of the box. The only time it was even slid from the box was to take these photos. It is a sturdy heavy set, weighs about 7lbs and comes from a smoke & pet free home. This has now been OOP(out of Production) for many years and is very rare to find in brand new unplayed condition. The 16 Chess pieces as stated on the BOX are gold-plated and silver-plated pieces along with the handcrafted footed mahogany finish wood chest which also has with two felt like lined storage drawers on each side. The top of the chess set is a sturdy mirrored playing board. The Mahogany Wood used to make the chest is all HAND CRAFTED so no two will be exactly alike. The box has a bit of wear to it only from it having gone through some moves & being moved around my home(s) for a long number of years. If there are any questions just ask.
