Description: Rare DANSK FESTIVAAL Lacquered TEAK Large Tray 1959-64 4 Ducks Mark IHQ Denmark This is a RARE Dansk Designs Denmark "Festivaal" Serving Tray in Mustard Yellow. It is made of teak wood, and highly lacquered in a yellow ochre color. This piece is 27" x 21" x 2" inches tall and has only the expected and typical crazing to the lacquer, and is in remarkably terrific condition with very few scratches to the rim. On the side there is a small area of missing lacquer - see the white spots on my photo, provided above. There is one little spot of missing lacquer on the back near the teak "4 Ducks" Quistgaard emblem on the bottom. Please see ALL my photos, they are part of the description. This Rare series (FESTIVAAL) was designed by Jens Quistgaard and produced only from 1959 to 1964, due to the high cost of manufacture, and the fact that the lacquered teak was quite delicate and would easily chip and crack - it was just far too delicate to actually USE. Production was halted between 1963 and '64 and the pieces that have survived are often in quite poor condition. You can find quite a few of the "Eye" series trays available online, but I've seen very few pieces of this model anywhere, only one other tray listed like this currently (in less fine condition).
